And here we go for a comprehensive thread repair. ![]()
We set the cylinder head flat on the Rottler bed once the holes were clean, we then drilled and tapped a 14mm thread into it. We installed a bolt with plentiful retaining compound, cut and snapped it off similar to an oversized A plugin a crack repair, surfaced it flat, then traced the original centres and drilled and tapped it back to 8x1.25 thread. ![]()

A reconditioned head came in for us to check out. This was one of the many issues. The shiny spot at the top of the drilled hole is the centre of the old broken bolt. The lower one was where I managed to remove the last of the broken bolt extractor. ![]()
They just left the mess hoping that the purchaser of the head wouldn’t notice.
We are still on the look out for a new home with 3 Phase power and enough room to swing a crank or two.![]()

We are looking for a Junior to join our team in the engine shop.![]()
Duties will include stuff to make our jobs easier, like buffing stuff, cleaning stuff with the right dude (or dudette) having the opportunity to move into machine work once we know you won't kill yourself (the machines or us, more importantly). A few hours a week, after school days and possibly a little more. ![]()
This opportunity may lead to an apprenticeship. If you're interested in something different in the automotive pathway, and are in Yrs 10, 11 or 12, stop into the shop and ask for William.
